We recommend matching the hoop size to the embroidery design. A very large hoop can make it harder to keep fabric taut around a small design. Owning multiple hoop sizes also gives you additional magnets for securing fabric more densely.
The floating technique means hooping only the stabilizer and positioning the fabric or item on top. The flat metal base and movable magnets make this hoop suitable for thicker or irregular items that cannot be fully hooped.
Use the correct stabilizer for the fabric, and space the long-bar magnets evenly so pressure is distributed across the project. Thick or stretchy materials may require a heavier cutaway stabilizer or an additional layer.
